My mother placed a camera in my hands at the age of 13. She saw that I had a great affinity for the device my father, a professional photographer from Brooklyn carried at his side daily. Weekly he would come home and process his film in the darkroom he created in our bathroom. Those images featured weddings, portraits and events of local heroes like Ed Towns and Al Vann, Major Owens. My relationship with my father and those images inspired my personal journey as a photographer over 30 years ago.

My name is Eurila Cave and for over 20 years I have used a camera to preserve important moments for everyone from everyday households to United States Congressmembers. Cali York Photography is a business I established in 2011 after leaving corporate America to serve the legacy conscious, quality connoissuers of this great city with images they can cherish for eons.
Brooklyn is still home and EveryDayBK is my video love letter journal, time capsule and personal documentary.
These spaces all exist under the moniker “ExploringEurila” on instagram as my way of communicating to the world that black women are (this black woman is) creative and beautiful and professional, qualified and multifaceted while being nurturing, loving and still free of social norms.
